In the traditional sense, glass windows are passive structures that allow natural light to pass through and protect the room from environmental influences.

The invention of electrically heated double-glazed windows has fundamentally changed the situation - now windows can be used as a heating element.

The impetus for development in this direction was, oddly enough, the good quality of conventional double-glazed windows. When they began to be installed on the roofs of greenhouses and winter gardens, it turned out that due to good thermal insulation they practically do not heat up, and lying on Snow doesn't melt on a glass roof.

The engineers were faced with a problem that was solved in the world's leading laboratories, and two working options were proposed:
- application of the thinnest transparent film permeated with conductive threads to the glass;
- spraying of conductive metal oxides onto the surface of the glass, providing a translucent layer. This method is simpler in production technology, but requires the use of expensive metals.

The basis for heated glass is tempered glass, since it is not subject to destruction from temperature shock. A conductive busbar (usually copper or tin-silver alloy) is created around the perimeter, which is connected to the control circuit.

Electrically heated glass is used only as part of triplex, and the conductive layer is always located between the glasses. This guarantees complete safety; electric shock cannot be caused either by touching or even by breaking the glass with your bare hand.

Very soon it became clear that electrically heated double-glazed windows are good not only on roofs and attics. In vertical glazing they can also bring considerable benefits - from preventing fogging and using them as a heat gun to full heating without traditional heating devices.

The performance characteristics of an electrically heated double-glazed window can vary significantly depending on the glass used and the order of their arrangement. If the double-glazed window is to be used for heating, then the heated glass is located inside, and if it is to remove snow, then outside.

The temperature of electrically heated double-glazed windows is set using a thermostat, which is attached to the surface of the window. For convenience, windows can be combined into controlled groups, and sensors can turn them on one by one to ensure uniform snow melting.
